Artists Market

eoa.jpgIntroducing the newest art venue in Webster Groves, the Every Other Artist’s Market.

The Every Other Artist’s Market is the brainchild of Lisa Cox and Jo Hart, both artists from Webster Groves. Created to build awareness of the art community and help local artists find an affordable venue to show and sell their work—the Every Other Artist’s Market will open with its first show on Saturday February 14, 2009. The market will be open to the public on the second Saturday of every other month (hence the name).

Each show features different art and artists including: jewelry, pottery, fiber, wood, paper art, paintings, sculpture, clothing, pastels, glass, soap, candles, and much more. The market will have a diverse variety of artists so no show will be the same.

This is a unique opportunity for the community to support their local artists and share in their success. The additional 2009 show dates are: April 11, June 13, August 8, October 10 and December 12.

Every Other Artist’s Market will be held at the new Old Orchard Gallery at 37 S. Old Orchard in Webster Groves (at the end of the parking lot of Ben Franklin’s) from 10am to 5pm each date.  Please contact everyotherartist@yahoo.com formore information.

Featured Event:  2009 Turkey Day Game!

The 102nd Battle for the FRISCO Bell
Thanksgiving Day 2009

DETAILS TO COME

HISTORY:  As two leather-helmeted teams faced off in 1907 at the first annual Turkey Day game, they had no idea that their knockdown, drag-out game would result in modern day football-not to mention the longest running classic west of the Mississippi. Kirkwood defeated Webster Groves 5-0. The rules of the game did not develop until 1910.   Read Entire Article

100th Anniversary Site

Following tradition, the winning team will receive the Frisco Bell, a 400-pound bell from a retired train.  The famed bell was donated by the Frisco Railroad Company in 1951 and currently belongs to the Webster Groves Statesmen.

The game has brought both towns celebrity status over the years, with clips on ESPN as well as features in the New York Times and Sports Illustrated.  Thousands of alumni, family and community members will gather for their pre-feast fill of football, tailgating and community spirit.
